What makes HTML special, and differentiates normal text from Hyper Text, is the way we can navigate from one page to another using hyperlinks.

The markup used to indicate an hyperlink has two essential components:

• the tag a;
• the inclusion of a reference to a given location using the attribute href with a URL [i.e. a location] as its value.
